As we age, our hands start to look “old” because we see pigment spots appear and the veins and tendons start to look more prominent. Like other areas, the skin of the hands is exposed to sun damage over time and pigment clumping results from the UV injury. This problem is readily treated with either mild chemical peels or laser/IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments that target the brown color.
Although some doctors advertise removing the prominent veins with sclerotherapy, it should be stressed that the underlying cause is loss of fat volume during the aging process and not enlarging veins! Therefore the proper form of treatment is replacing volume. This can be done with fat (as was there for many years) or with a dermal filler like Radiesse.
