How long has Dr. Perkins been in practice?
Dr. Perkins has been serving the Tri-county area and beyond since 1978.
How much does surgery cost?
Costs depend on the procedure(s) performed. A written quotation is given to you at the time of your cosmetic surgery consultation.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes. Through Care Credit.
Where are the surgeries performed?
Surgeries are performed in our outpatient surgical facility.
Do I have to go under general anesthesia?
No. Virtually all facial and body liposuction surgeries can be comfortably and safely done using local anesthesia and conscious sedation.
Can I drive myself home?
Yes, if light or no sedation is used. Otherwise, plan for a friend or relative to take you home after surgery.
I’m not quite ready for surgery—should I come in now for a consultation?
It is best to come in for a consultation when you have specific concerns so they can be evaluated and an overall plan formulated. Today we have many non-surgical options that can be used to postpone the need for surgery.
How long do I have to wait from the consultation to the day of surgery?
Generally, your surgery can be scheduled within 2 to 4 weeks.
Is my medical information confidential? What if my family calls with questions?
Your medical information is always kept private. It can be discussed with your family members only if you say it is OK.
I have a few medical issues – can I still have surgery?
That depends on what your medical issues are. As cosmetic surgery procedures are usually elective, there is never a reason to put any patient at risk. If necessary, “medical clearance” will be requested from your family MD.
Do I need to lose weight before a facelift or liposuction?
In facial procedures weight loss before surgery has no major benefit other than general health. But getting your weight under control is good before body liposuction.
Do you take insurance? Will you bill my insurance company?
No. We will give you any information you need so you can submit a claim to your insurance company if it is appropriate.
How much weight will I lose with liposuction?
Liposuction is a body-contouring, not a weight loss procedure. Patients often comment that their clothes fit better and that they look like they have lost weight.
Is there a lot of pain associated with surgery?
Most facial procedures (including full facelifts) and body contouring surgeries have remarkably little pain that can be easily controlled with oral medication.
How much time do I need to take off after surgery?
Depending on the procedure done, most patients are able to return to work in one week or less.
