Breast augmentation can be done in a more natural way using a person’s own fat instead of implants. A Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation can enlarge the breast area up to one cup size and is usually done with a breast lift to get the best result.
How is the procedure done?
Santa Barbara cosmetic surgeon Dr. Terry Perkins collects fat through liposuction from the person’s abdominal and/or leg areas. This happens in the same surgery as the augmentation. The collected fat is used to fill the breast areas. Dr. Perkins can selectively choose the specific areas of where to place the fat which allows him to correct unevenness much more precisely than an implant can.
Using a person’s own fat eliminates many of the side effects that breast implants can have, including:
- The risk of capsular contracture – when the body’s immune system attacks the implant and the collagen fibers squeeze and surround the implant making it distorted.
- Visible rippling of the skin.
- The need to replace the implants down the road (most implants should be replaced after 10 to 15 years).
Natural breast augmentation using fat transfer is a safe and effective way to enhance your breast size and less invasive than an implant surgery.
