Eye Lift Cosmetic Surgery Helps Most People Look Younger
If you are looking to rejuvenate your appearance – and look younger – through one cosmetic surgical procedure, experts are saying that your best bet may be an eye lift surgery.
A study recently published by the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery suggested that patients who had multiple plastic surgeries on their face were perceived to be younger (up to 8 and a half years less than their actual ages).
The study included 60 patients (male and female) between the ages of 45 and 72. These patients were divided into specific groups that had received the same procedures:
- Group 1: face lifts and neck lifts
- Group 2: face lifts, neck lifts plus upper and lower eyelid surgery
- Group 3: face lifts, neck lifts, upper and lower eyelid surgery plus forehead lifts
Medical students were asked to estimate the patients’ ages by studying photographs of them. The overall results were:
- Group 1 looked (on average) 5.7 years younger
- Group 2 looked (on average) 7.5 years younger
- Group 3 looked (on average) 8.4 years younger
Aside from having multiple procedures, group 2 and group 3 both had upper and lower eyelid surgery performed. This may be a key factor in why groups 2 and 3 looked younger than those in the first group.
At Cosmetic Surgery Center we have always felt that the eyes are one of the first features that people notice. Eyes can give others an impression of who you are without a word being spoken. If eyes look tired or unhappy – through sagging or fat bulges – the impression a person gives may not be truly how they feel or who they are. Cosmetic surgery expert Arthur Perry, M.D., agrees and has observed that “eyes are part of the body that begin to show age first, and they’re certainly the most apparent” while “necks and jowls can be hidden a little more easily”.
Eyelid surgery by Dr. Perkins entails removing excess skin and fat to give the patient a more rested, pleasant appearance. Incisions are hidden in the natural curves of the eyes, under the lashes or made internally where excess skin is not an issue.
Although every patient’s needs are different, eye lift surgery may give some a bigger bang for their buck and may be a good option instead of opting for a face or neck lift. Of course, this is on a case by case basis and we always recommend getting educated on all your options before making a decision.
