Plastic Surgery Trends in 2015
Last week the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released plastic surgery statistics report for 2015. These statistics included surgical and minimally-invasive procedures such as laser skin treatments, Botox, and chemical peels.
In a press release by the ASPS, they stated that “Since 2000, overall procedures have risen 115 percent, but the types of procedures patients are choosing are changing.“
Last year there were 1,706,106 plastic surgery procedures performed in the US (up 2% from 2014).
Here are the top 10 cosmetic surgery procedures of 2015 (and how they compared to 2014):
- Breast Augmentation: 279,143 (down 2% from 2014)
- Liposuction: 222,051 (up 5%)
- Nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty): 217,979 (no change from 2014)
- Eyelid Surgery: 203,934 (down 1%)
- Tummy Tuck: 127,967 (up 9%)
- Facelift: 125,711 (down 2%)
- Breast Lift: 99,614 (up 7%)
- Dermabrasion: 87,216 (up 4%) * Not to be confused with Mircodermabrasion.
- Neck Lift: 54,281 (down 2%)
- Breast Reduction: 40,650(down 2%)
Minimally-invasive procedures for cosmetic purposes topped the charts at 14,202,224 procedures in 2015 (up 2% from 2014 and up 158% from 2000). The top 5 minimally-invasive procedures were:
- Botox and Dysport: 6,757,198 (up 1% from 2014)
- Soft Tissue Fillers (including Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm, Sculptra, fat, collagen, etc): 2,440,724 (up 6%)
- Chemical Peel: 1,310,252 (up 5%)
- Laser Hair Removal: 1,116,708 (no change from 2014)
- Microdermabrasion: 800,340 (down 9%)
