Upper Arm Lift Surgery and Arm Lipo in Santa Barbara

Are you tired of waving and having your arms wave back at you? You are not alone. Excess skin under the upper arms (from the armpit to the elbow) is a common occurrence in women. When estrogen levels drop (usually for those who are peri-menopausal or in menopause), the amount of collagen produced is less. Diminishing collagen offers less support so skin laxity and thin skin become much more noticeable. Another instance of hanging skin in the upper arms (sometimes referred to as “bat wings”) can occur when someone has lost an extraordinary amount of weight.

Fortunately upper arm liposuction and surgery are great options to treat “bat wing” arms and patients are very pleased with the result.

Upper Arm Liposuction
Liposuction is used when fat is the main issue. Once the fat is removed, the loose skin will contract without the need of skin removal.

Arm Liposuction and Skin Excision

If there is too much loose skin, liposuction will be done to remove the fat and skin removal will follow. The scar is placed on the inside of the upper arm above the elbow (against the body) and will not be visible from the front or the back. If there is a small amount of loose skin, the skin removal can often be confined to or near the armpit.
